Two Cannons from La Juliana of The Spanish Armada of 1588 have been recovered this afternoon in Co. Sligo Ireland on Streedagh Beach after over 400 years in the water the two bronze cannons are in perfect condition, follow the story at the Armada Gallery at the link above.

One of which bears a dedication to and depiction of St. Matrona who was particularly venerated by the people of Catalonia and Barcelona. The cannon also bears the date 1570, the year La Juliana was built, putting the identity of the ship beyond doubt. The recovery operation is expected to last a number of weeks.
